Welcome to family tree foodie!

Lynn

My name is Lynn and I created Family Tree Foodie to preserve and recreate beloved family recipes and food memories, while celebrating the matriarchs who made them.

Cooking and baking have always been my passion. I’ve taken countless classes and courses over the years, devoured dozens of cookbooks and am always excited to try a new recipe or trend. That said, I never really thought much about looking back at the vintage recipes in my family.

But after losing my mother, I realized how many aging recipe cards and family stories she held and I desperately wanted to protect that history for myself and future generations.

I started pouring through boxes of vintage recipes handwritten on fragile index cards and interviewing family members about their favorite recipes and stories about when they enjoyed them.  I learned that when it comes to remembering the foods of our childhoods, especially those made by cherished family members who are no longer with us, the reactions are universally joyful, and powerful.

I love sharing some of the delicious recipes in my family tree like my grandmother’s Sicilian Lentil Soup, my mother‘s Texas Sheet Cake and my Aunt Liz’s Go to School Cookies. And I hope to inspire others to dig into their own boxes full of family recipes and start cooking.
